Nissan GT-R gets what looks like its final update in Japan
The 2025 Nissan GT-R that just debuted in Japan sports a refreshed trim and some tech upgrades, too, but it’s still a 16-year-old sports car. As such, rumors abound that it may retire as soon as the next year.
On its domestic market, the refreshed GT-R will arrive in eight trim levels priced from 14,443,000 to 30,613,000 Japanese Yen ($96,800–205,200). As usual, the standard 3.8-liter V8 will pump out 573 PS (565 hp / 421 kW) and the Nismo version will boost it to 608 PS (600 hp / 447 kW).
The trims called GT-R Premium Edition T-spec and GT-R Track Edition engineered by Nismo will additionally get weight-balanced piston rings, connecting rods and camshafts. The automaker points out that all these upgrades had previously been reserved for the range-topping GT-R Nismo Special Edition (see video). In addition to them, every car will get a serial number plaque and a certificate.
The GT-R Premium Edition freshens things up a little more with a new interior trim called Blue Heaven. The sky-blue tint can be found on the seats, the door panels, the lower dashboard and the steering wheel. Black details and carbon-fiber accents round off the look.
Preorders are already running. The first shipments will be made in June, Nissan says.
