Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the refreshed G-Class lineup. The launch dates are still pending, but it’s official that prices in Germany will begin from €122,808.

The gas-guzzling G 500 now uses a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine in tandem with a starter-generator. The engine delivers 449 PS (443 hp / 330 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque, while the mild-hybrid add-on contributes up to 20 PS (20 hp / 15 kW) and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) of its won when needed. The SUV sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.4 seconds and hits its speed limit at 210 km/h (130 mph).

The diesel-powered G 450d also relies on a 3.0-liter six-pot now rated at 367 PS (362 hp / 270 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. It takes 0.4 seconds longer to launch than the G 500, but the top speed stays the same.

The AMG G 63 nominally retains its specifications: 585 PS (577 hp / 430 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque plus whatever its starter-generator can provide. Like before, the off-roader needs 4.3 seconds to sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph). You can pay extra to lift the speed cap to 240 km/h (149 mph).

The nine-speed automatic transmission gains revised gear ratios in this model year. All-wheel drive, transfer case and diff locks stay the same. Once a diff lock is activated, the G-Class automatically switches into off-road mode.

The infotainment system on board consists of two 12.3-inch displays and has a feature called the Off-road Cockpit. When enabled, it switches to displaying such useful real-time data as the current orientation of the car body, the angles of all wheels, and so on. A “transparent hood” feature is also included as standard, as well as a wider range of other electronic assists.

For the first time on record, those buying the AMG G 63 may look forward to Active Ride Control suspension based on adaptive shock absorbers and hydraulic elements. It helps minimize swaying on asphalt while delivering the smoothest possible ride on rough terrain. This suspension is included in the main spec, but paying a premium will unlock new software presets for those who need them.

All G-Class versions have received only minimal visual modifications heading into 2025.
