Porsche has revealed a new flagship version of its Taycan EV. Called the Turbo GT, it pumps out up to 1,109 PS (1,094 hp / 816 kW) and 1,340 Nm (988 lb-ft) of torque, making it the company’s most powerful street-legal vehicle on record. Even before its debut, the Turbo GT spec took on the Nürburgring and slashed the standard Taycan’s lap time by whole 26 seconds.

Thanks to a new invertor and other improvements, the electric powertrain now delivers 789 PS (778 hp / 580 kW) to the wheels. Activating launch control briefly bumps up the output to 1,033 PS (1,019 hp / 760 kW). As for the peak output mentioned above, it is available in a dedicated mode called Attack Mode, which you can trigger from a steering column stalk.

Outfitted like this, the new Taycan hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.3 seconds and doubles that acceleration in 6.6 seconds. For the first time in the history of five-door Porsches, it gets access to the optional Weissach package packing extra body kit parts and weight-reducing measures. For example, ordering a Weissach Taycan Turbo GT gets rid of the rear seat row completely and replaces the entire glass dome with a lighter version.

This shaves off 70 kilos (154 lbs) of weight, allowing the EV to reduce the sprint times mentioned above to 2.2 and 6.4 seconds, respectively. While the normal Taycan Turbo GT is already rather cool for an EV with a top speed of 290 km/h (180 mph), the Weissach version can attain 305 km/h (a touch under 190 mph). Both should cover at least 555 km (345 miles) on a charge, the company says.

The non-Weissach version also weighs less than the old Taycan. Extensive use of carbon fiber for structural parts, new wheels and carbon seats let it tip the scales 75 kg (165 lbs) under the normal Turbo S version.

Regardless of the chosen trim level, buyers get an adaptive suspension system with a variety of exclusive presets to switch between, ceramic brake rotors and Matrix LEDs. The two new colors the car comes in will remain exclusive to it for a year since launch.
