Video: Zeekr 009 crash-tested between a car and a tip truck
Zeekr has found a creative way to test its 009 EV for impact resistance, going as far as to smash the MPV from both ends.
The first test involved the minivan rear-ending the truck head-on at 60 km/h (37 mph). The truck had no underrun bar installed, so the minivan hit the underside of the bed with its windshield. A mid-size SUV then rear-ended the 009 at 55 km/h (34 mph).
The company admits that none of the existing crash test regulations provide for these particular test conditions, but argues that they still give you a decent idea of what to expect in an incident like this. As you can see in the video, the MPV escaped without too much damage despite all the doors swinging open (including the rail-mounted rear doors). The occupants were able to avoid injury. The traction battery, which lies under the floor between the axles, also stayed intact.
