Hyundai North America has fully introduced the 2025 Ioniq 5 facelift in the country, giving the SUV the same range of improvements as its European counterpart this spring, but with a few differences. Hyundai North America has fully introduced the 2025 Ioniq 5 facelift in the country, giving the SUV the same range of improvements as its European counterpart this spring, but with a few differences. Most notably, customers in the States enjoy exclusive access to a new off-road trim of the electric vehicle called the XRT.

You will tell the Ioniq 5 XRT from its road-going cousin by a rugged-looking body kit, reshaped bumpers and guard plates on the arches and the side sills. The entire kit, including a large spoiler at the back, comes finished in black for practicality reasons. The SUV also has recovery eyes and rides on 18-inch wheels shod in 235/60 off-road tires. The interior is all-black, too, including the headliner.

On the technical side of things, the XRT rides 23 mm (0.9”) higher than the normal Ioniq 5 and benefits from suspension tweaks that allow it to have an approach angle of 19.8 degrees (up from 17.5) and a departure angle of 30 degrees (up from 25.4).

The electric soft-roader will go on sale with two motors driving all four wheels with a combined 325 PS (321 hp / 240 kW). The same spec is available in Europe among other options, but the USA doesn’t get any other options. The good news is that the battery sizes have grown a fair bit – from 77.4 to 84 kWh and from 58 to 63 kWh.

All range figures will be announced following EPA certification. In the meantime, the company reckons that the longest-range Ioniq 5 will be able to cover 500 km (310 miles) per charge instead of the former 488 km (303 miles). Perhaps more importantly, it finally comes with a NACS-standard charging port straight from the factory, meaning owners can freely charge it at Tesla Supercharger stations without any need for adapters.

Soon enough, the production of the Ioniq 5 should commence at the Hyundai Metaplant factory still being constructed in the state of Georgia. Localizing the assembly there will unlock tax benefits and other incentives for buyers in the States.
