Volvo insists on banning ICE cars by 2035
03-10-2024 13:30
Like most of its peers, Volvo Cars has recently reviewed its electrification strategy to prioritize hybrids and tone down EV production plans. It is now saying it was a temporary setback.
According to Volvo Cars CEO Jim Rowan, the company simply had to respond to the feedback from its customers, who were interested in a more gradual adoption of EVs. Even as it did so, Volvo remained committed to the idea of banning all ICE cars in the EU by 2035.
Speaking in a recent interview, Rowan emphasized that all-electric cars were crucial in reducing harmful emissions. As such, their mandatory adoption in Europe may make sense despite increasing protests.
