USA call upon Mexico to join anti-China sanctions on EVs
08-10-2024 12:00
Having adopted a 100% surtax on electric cars imported from China, the United States want other countries to follow their example to avoid loopholes.
A group of 21 congresspeople have asked Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, recently elected as the President of Mexico, to prevent Chinese automotive businesses from invading the country and building their factories there.
The petitioners claim that allowing China to circumvent the prohibitive tariffs set by the USA threatens the cybersecurity of the entire North American continent.
