Audi A6 Avant E-Tron bows as an estate car concept with 476 PS
Audi has unveiled its conceptual A6 Avant E-Tron. The production car is already in development and expected to reach the market in 2024.
The exterior is no longer a mystery, unlike the cabin. On the whole, the design strikes us as familiar except for the Solidframe grille. The mesh is largely solid with only a few small L- and U-shaped cuts in it for air intakes, which serve to improve aerodynamics.
The car comes with ultra-thin headlights that support a plethora of presets and can be used to project images onto flat surfaces. The manufacturer claims you can park your car in front of a wall, turn on the headlamps and play a video game. The most interesting bit, however, is that this feature is not just a concept tease and will actually make it into production.
The taillights span the entire width of the rear end and are packed with 3D elements. There is also a pronounced rear diffuser with a couple of large bulges and some vents.
Powering the concept is the same PPE architecture that propels the future Q6 e-tron. The powertrain is represented by a single electric motor rated at 476 PS (469 hp / 350 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. The traction battery holds up to 100 kilowatt-hours of power and provides up to 700 km (435 miles) of driving range. Recharging rapidly for 10 minutes yields 300 km (186 miles) of range.
The prototype needs less than seven seconds to go 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph), Audi claims.
