Maxi-Tuner puts some polish on the MINI Cooper S
German company Maxi-Tuner took tourists on Hockenheimring rides in its starkly modified MINI Cooper S last year (see video). The time has now come to unveil a similar tuning program for the latest F66 Cooper.
Starting on the outside, the car is wearing 19-inch MaxSpeed wheels with Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 tires sized 225/35 R19 at both ends. The suspension sits approximately 30 mm (1.2 inches) lower than stock thanks to shortened springs. As an alternative, you can opt for MTC Conquistador coilovers offering three stiffness presets called Comfort, Sport, and Sport+.
Some work has been performed on the engine as well. It has gone from 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) to 235 PS (232 hp / 173 kW), while the peak torque has risen from 300 to 360 Nm (from 221 to 266 lb-ft). Tuned like this, the new Cooper S doesn’t need more than six seconds to go 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) – that’s 0.6s faster than stock.
Rounding off the list of modifications are a pair of Gurney flaps and a MaxSound exhaust system, which the company expects to begin shipping in late summer.
