Viper-swapped Plymouth GTX on sale for $46k
This Plymouth GTX has been swapped to a ten-cylinder supercar engine and is now being auctioned off in the USA. It seems to be in great condition, so let’s take a closer look.
The owner replaced the stock engine with a third-generation Dodge Viper V10. The listing fails to mention the output, but it shouldn’t be lower than the stock 507 PS (500 hp / 373 kW) and 712 Nm (525 lb-ft) of torque. With an added Paxton supercharger, a methanol injection system and other track-friendly options, the mill probably packs a few hundred extra horsepower. For a bit of perspective, the GTX maxed out at 380 PS (375 hp / 279 kW) and needed almost seven seconds to hit 96 km/h (60 mph).
Aside from the swap, the car ended up with a decent modern six-speed manual transmission and the Viper’s bucket seats. The suspension and the brakes were likewise upgraded, and new 18-inch wheels slotted into the arches instead of the tiny 15-inch stock rollers.
At the time of writing, the bidding on BaT is at $40,000 with a day remaining on the clock.
