Hyundai patents a new steering wheel design
27-06-2024 10:30
Hyundai has filed a patent application in the United States that describes a steering wheel with a built-in engine RPM indicator. The wheel hints to the driver when it is best to shift up.
The idea isn’t exactly new, because similar indicators are commonly used in motorsports nowadays. They can also occasionally be found in street-legal supercars.
However, the mechanism Hyundai proposes aims to be as simple and cheap to make as possible for this functionality. As such, we may see the company installing it in all kinds of mass-market cars in the future.
