New Polestar 2 is a 659-km (410-mile) electric car
Polestar has once again updated its all-electric liftback known simply as the 2. Sales in Europe and Canada are already running, with the other market scheduled to get it later this year.
In its base single-motor spec called Standard Range, the car now benefits from a 70-kWh battery pack made by CATL in China. This lets it cover up to 554 km (344 miles) per charge instead of 518 km (322 miles). All range numbers are WLTP-rated.
The Long Range version also gets a boost from its usual 635 to 659 kilometers, or from roughly 395 to almost 410 miles. The company doesn’t disclose any details as to the specific improvements.
Buyers can now choose from a revised assortment of exterior colors, including some options previously only available for the Polestar 4. The main/default color has also been updated for the next model year. Those who would like to stand out from the crowd can opt for a Pro Pack adding gold-hued accents all around and new 20-inch wheels. Another package, Climate Pack, brings along a heat pump for warming up the battery and local warmers for the rear seats, the steering wheel and the washer fluid spouts. For the interior, you can now opt for a specially treated black Nappa leather trim.
The new Polestar 2 looks almost unchanged on the outside, still sporting the same stylistic updates it received in early 2023. Back then, Polestar moved the electric motor from the front axle to the rear one for all entry-level EVs, and the latest Polestar 2 still has its motor at the rear end.
