BMW may help McLaren design its first SUV ever
27-06-2024 13:30
The British supercar maker has confirmed working on the first crossover utility vehicle in its history.
The work is still at its earliest stages, so the company is choosing from multiple design options. Hybrid seems to be the most viable powertrain type, but EV is also being considered.
To accelerate the development and reduce costs, McLaren says it may borrow a third-party architecture for its first SUV. The part-electric BMW XM seems to be the likeliest donor, since the two automakers have a history of cooperating on car designs.
