BYD Yangwang U9 spotted testing at the Nürburgring
A couple of all-electric Yangwang U9 hypercars designed by BYD in China have been spotted on the North Loop track.
It is unclear why the company chose the German circuit for testing its cars, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it tried to surpass the Rimac Nevera as the World’s fastest car through the Green Hell. To earn that accolade, it will have to beat the Nevera’s best lap time of 7 minutes 5.298 seconds.
Armed with four electric motors producing a combined 1,306 PS (1,288 hp / 960 kW) and 1,680 Nm (1,240 lb-ft) of torque, the Yangwang U9 has the muscle required to set a new record. The company estimates that it should be able to go 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.36 seconds and reach a top speed of 309 km/h (192 mph).
