Ford’s latest animation reminisces about the Mustang in motorsports
The Blue Oval is making a comeback to Circuit de la Sarthe this year, marking only the third time in history that the American pony car takes part in the 24-hour Le Mans marathon. To help us remember some of its racing past, Ford has made a short animation movie that even features some iconic racers from competing brands.
The cartoon is styled in a way that Ford believes should embody the “American dream” – with the strong implication that the Mustang is an integral part of said dream. After hitting the Le Mans track in 1967 and 1997, the car is returning to motorsports this year to show everyone what it’s capable of. This could very well become the peak of its motorsport career.
A trio of Mustangs will compete in the GT3 category this season. They will have to contend with Aston Martin, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren cars and other formidable rivals.
